hi, folks after a long time of abstinence we are once again proud to have french cult heroes MAGMA for a show during the FREAKPARADE FESTIVAL in WÜRZBURG/GERMANY. this festival is an addition to the regular annual FREAKSHOW ARTROCK FESTIVAL, that most of you know and already have been visitors to in the past. for this cooperation with the german yahoo mailing list PROGROCK-DT we already had some great guests headlining the festival, like ECHOLYN in 2005 and SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM in 2007, and now we were able to secure MAGMA for their first ever show again in germany since the performance at the FREAKSHOW ARTROCK FESTIVAL 2003, where they played alongside the famed ANGLAGARD, ANEKDOTEN, PAATOS a.o. since concerts of these legendary avantrockers outside of france are very rare, we again hope for many a guest coming in from scandinavia or eastern europe like during the years 2001-2003, when MAGMA played three years in a row in WÜRZBURG and have become real friends from then on. due to the fact that ANTOINE and HIMIKO PAGANOTTI as well as EMMANUEL BORGHI have left the band, MAGMA will introduce three new members on vocals, keyboards and vibraphone. but, as most of you know, we are always trying to feature young, rather unknown musicians who are eager to present their adventurous music to lovers of uncompromising rock music outside the mainstream. that’s why we were lucky to have some great bands playing alongside MAGMA in this 2-day-festival (see infos down below) starting on saturday at 14:00 with music by the very CANTERBURYESQUE jazzy composers and improvisers collective ART ZENTRAL, the festival carries on with one of the finest and very enchanting acoustic chamber-rock outfits around, the girls from ARANIS and their stand-up bass player and guitarist will weave a spell of magic with their sophisticated amalgam of classical and rock music. as the first guest from GREAT BRITAIN in the history of our festival we will have the first ever continent show by british retro-bombast-jazzy progsters THIEVES’ KITCHEN, having ex-ANGLAGARD keyboard player THOMAS JOHNSON, before ending the day with the above mentioned show by french avantrockers MAGMA. starting on sunday at 13:00, we will once again see and hear ”zeuhl-fusion” monsters ONE SHOT, comprised of 3 MAGMA-musicians (2 still in the band and one who left quite a while ago). if you’ve seen them in 2003, you won’t miss them this time!!! and now it’s CIRCUS-time!!! absolutely crazed and deranged french polyrhythmic jazz-rock metalheads SEBKHA-CHOTT with their noses deep in adventurous avant stuff like MR. BUNGLE, FANTOMAS, SGM and even MAGMA will do one of their never-to forget shows. double trombone, guitar, bass, drums, double keyboard and multiple percussion make up for a great show of musical virtuosity and weirdness. to end this festival with a bang, we were able to get canada’s most recent avant metal export, the famed UNEXPECT, while they are on a little european tour with their friends from SEBKHA-CHOTT. this metal outfit between opera bombast and high-speed prog metal will speed up your blood pressure, so you will have a safe ride home or at least a sleepless night in some cosy hotel room, before leaving for home the next morning. there will be a limited supply (100) of numbered seated tickets (VIP-TICKETS, for both days only) for the price of 90.- euro, and 60 of them are gone already. to order seated tickets, please send a mail to: freakCha@aol.com regular festival tickets (standing) are available for 70.- euro. in case you decide to visit only for one day (YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!), tickets for saturday only are 50.- euro, and tickets for sunday only are 30.- euro. so please find below a schedule for the FREAKPARADE FESTIVAL 2008 in WÜRZBURG/GERMANY, see you there!!! charly
